The PCI DSS is a Security Standard that has been defined for both Merchants and Service Providers. It is an international standard with global reach. The PCI Security Council has previously seen all of its Directors located in the USA. However in June 2010, Jeremy King was appointed as the European Security Council Director and was given direct responsibility for driving PCI DSS compliance across Europe. As a consequence of this, PCI DSS is likely to become increasingly pervasive across all merchant and service provider tiers.
